England and Wales will meet in Neath in a fortnight to decide the U16s Four Nations title after both convincingly won their round two games.

England dominated from the off, building a 40-0 half time lead against Ireland in Widnes, fullback Jack Bowden finishing with 18 points from two tries and five goals.

Centre Jonah Carter claimed a hat trick, and Billy Buster-Knight and Jaiden Udbegbe were also on the scoresheet again, fellow try scorer Ryan Cunliffe also impressing in the pack.

Ireland showed commendable courage to open the scoring in the second half, centre Joe Clarke converting his own score.

Wales also started impressively, establishing a 22-point early lead facing Scotland in Merthyr Tydfil and they also led 40-0 at the break. Winger Alfie Davies opened the scoring and finished with three of Wales’s 13 tries, Jack Parrott claiming 16 points, including six goals.

Centre Max Phillips grabbed a brace in the first half and lively scrum half Will Mordecai did likewise in the second.

The game spilled over just before the hour, Danny Jones – who had scored minutes before – being dismissed for striking and Scotland’s Lachlan McKelvey sinbinned for his part in the fray.

Scotland received a penalty after the incident and Reece McAdam kicked it from long range to ensure they had points on the board.

In the U17s friendly international also at Merthyr, a fine second half performance by Wales saw them home 50-28 against Scotland.

The hosts were 20-18 ahead at the end of a tightly fought first half, each side fielding eleven debutants, but two tries in three minutes on the re-start from centre Evan Benjamin, and a further one from Matthew Clatworthy with his second and 20 points, saw Wales home.

Benjamin completed a second half hat trick, hooker Zach Robbins with a first half brace for Wales including opening the scoring.

Declan Smith and Ollie Watkins-Smith’s touchdowns and two Tom Glover goals saw Scotland hit back to lead, Joseph Davies and Finlay Stamford also crossing for the visitors.

An Elliot Williams try and Benjamin goal bringing up the half century for the young Welsh.
