Patrician Brothers aim up for first win over high-flying Hills

It’s Patrician Brothers final shot to earn victory before finals fever hits the Peter Mulholland Cup.

But they are going to have to achieve what no one has this season.

Watch the full match replay as Hunter Sports High v Bass High in the NRL Schoolboy Cup.

Please note a late time change for this blockbuster schoolboys league clash with Patrician Brothers Blacktown and Hills Sports to now kick off an hour earlier at 11.30am and now play at the Kellyvills Ovals

Patrician Brothers Blacktown will have their hands full as they aim to claim their first win of the NRL Schoolboys Cup season against undefeated rivals, Hill Sports High.

The defending schoolboys champions have been far from their all conquering best in 2022, but coach Noah Meares believes they have found the key to unlocking their potential.

And it starts with simplicity.

“A big focus is going to be getting the little things right. Nothing fancy, but making sure we get those little effort areas sorted,” he said.

The blockbuster clash between Patrician Brothers and Hills Sports will be exclusively live streamed on KommunityTV at 11.30am on Wednesday.

Having returned from injury, Panthers young gun and Harold Matthews star David Afu will help bring the team to glory, and Meares said his experience “will be a big in”.

Patrician Brothers will have their work cut out for them, with Hill Sports welcoming back a host of talent from the Australian Secondary School Championships earlier this month.

“We were fortunate enough to have seven boys in the NSW team that went up to Redcliffe,” Hill Sports coach Scott Jones said.

“I wanted to see those boys play well and showcase their skills to make the Australian team, but in the same time at the back of my mind, I wanted to make sure they all got through the carnival healthy, and they all did.”

The line-up could get even stronger with the potential return of Panthers SG Ball representative Luron Patea, who has missed the opening rounds of the schoolboys season through injury.

Patea was recently selected as part of the Australian Schoolboys Rugby Union team.

Sitting comfortably on two wins from two games, the latter by over 30 points, Jones said their preparation would not change.

“Obviously we do a little bit of detective work on certain players in those teams but most of our preparations is worrying about ourselves and what we can control, so our prep doesn’t change too much,” he said.
