Raiders Monaro Johns & Daley Cup Round Four Wrap
The SLE Andrew Johns Cup and SLE Laurie Daley Cup competitions continued on the weekend with both the Monaro sides facing the Western Rams, collecting a win and a loss in round four.
SLE Andrew Johns Cup
The Monaro side showed great resilience on the weekend in their 40-16 win over the Western Rams after trailing 16-6 at halftime.
Archie Duncombe and Ryan Blowes both crossed for doubles as they racked up their biggest win of the season.
Lucas McPherson, Harry Hudson and Zachary Brooker also crossed for tries in Sunday morning’s win.
The Colts have a big clash this weekend against the Macarthur Wests Tigers at Kippax Playing Fields, Canberra, playing for a spot in the SLE Andrew Johns Cup finals.
SLE Laurie Daley Cup
The Colts Laurie Daley Cup side were defeated 34-6 by the Western Rams on Sunday afternoon.
Monaro winger Sean Ward crossed for a try early in the second half but it wasn’t enough to hold out the six-try onslaught from the Western Rams.
Rams fullback Nick Murphy scored a hattrick, Harrison Scott scored a double, and interchange Michael Smith crossed the line to rack up a big win leading into the final round of the competition.
In what has been a tough season for the Monaro side, they will look to collect one more win on the season when they also host the MacArthur Wests Tigers at the Kippax Playing Fields, Canberra on Sunday morning.
