Bulldogs Junior Reps Round 5 Results SG Ball dig deep to win by two

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs three junior rep teams have completed their round five fixtures against the Manly Sea Eagles and Parramatta Eels.
Both the Harold Matthews and SG Ball teams travelled to Brookvale Oval to play the Sea Eagles, while the Tarsha Gale Cup team played the Eels at Kirkham Oval in Camden.
The club’s SG Ball Cup side remain undefeated for the season after a two-point win, while both the Tarsha Gale and Harold Matthews team suffered defeats to Manly and Parramatta respectively.

Our Tarsha Gale Cup side went down by six points to the Parramatta Eels on Saturday. Canterbury led 14-6 at the break, before the Eels ran in four tries to one in the second half to claim a 26-20 victory.
Parramatta’s Losalio Sita Payne and Canterbury-Bankstown’s Gwen Swann, who lined up as opposing props, scored three tries each. In what is a rare try-scoring feat for front-rowers in rugby league, the two middle forwards shared 24 points between them.

Manly held off a late challenge from the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs to deny the visitors their first win of the season and claim a 14-10 win.
Canterbury had two late chances inside the final minutes to snatch a draw or win but the home side’s defence withstood the Dogs attack.
Manly opened the scoring in the fourth minute to take an early 4-0 lead, before adding another on the bell to lead 8-0 at the break.
The Bulldogs got on the board two minutes after half-time when prop Shaquille Tavita scored and Jonathan Su’a converted for an 8-6 scoreline.
Canterbury hit the lead when forward Junior Taupau crashed over out wide seven minutes later for a 10-8 scoreline.
Manly grabbed their third for the day when prop Samuela Fainu dived over to next to the posts and halfback Alfred Ah Chong converted the try to give the Sea Eagles a 14-10 lead with five minutes left on the clock.
The Bulldogs threw plenty at Manly in the dying minutes, but could not crack the maroon and whites defence.

SG BALL Cup
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have put together three tries in the final 15 minutes of play to earn a 26-24 win against Manly at Brookvale Oval.
The Bulldogs led 10-6 at the break, before the home side got out to a 24-10 lead early in the second half.
The Bulldogs mounted their fightback soon after with three quick tries to five-eighth Khaled Rajab, centre Brendan Tapuai and Lachlan Vale to secure the two-point win and remain undefeated.

Meanwhile, the North Coast Bulldogs went down to the Central Coast Roosters 40-16 and the the Northern Tigers suffered a 24-16 loss to the Western Rams in the Andrew Johns Cup, while the North Coast Bulldogs suffered a 24-18 loss to the Central Coast Roosters and the Northern Tigers went down to the Western Rams 20-10 in the Laurie Daley Cup.
