CrashClaim – Meeting new friends by accident looks at the Matthews Cup Rnd 3 matches

As we approach round three of the 2022 NSWRL junior rep’s season looks at the Matthews Cup Rnd 3 matches and we see some exciting line ups

Let have a look at the round 3 draw

Harold Matthews Cup

There are 4 teams with 2 wins, Roosters, Sharks, Magpies and the Dragons.

The two top teams the Sydney Roosters and the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks have the bye along bottom dwellers the South Sydney Rabbitoh’s and will get a free 2 points for the round.

Canberra Raiders v Penrith Panthers

Seventh plaved Canberra Raiders take on the 9th placed Panthers at the Raiders Belconnen Oval

Last week the Panthers were well beaten at home by the Cronulla Sharks and only managed the 1 try against a ferious Sharks defence.

The Raiders also went in round 2 to the St. George Dragons who almost doubled the Raiders score, this will be an even match.

The Raiders have Jayden Svager, Jonah Anderson and Kyle McDermott returning while the Panthers have six players teturn to boost their strength including Angus Thompson, Casey Mclean, Hokafonu Lemoto, Hunt Leavai, Jack Ewer & Jaxen Edgar.

OurFootyteam’s Prediction : The Panthers will bounce back and win by a try

Western Suburbs Magpies v Parramatta Eels

The second game of round 3 is the high flying Magpies playing the Parramatta Eels.

The Magpies had a good win belting the Newcastle Knights up at the Mailtland sports ground and as everyone knows, that’s a tough trip.

Parramatta defeated the Bulldogs at home so will go into the game hoping to continue their good form

Western Surburbs fullback Tajh Colquhoun is on fire this year, racking up an average of 11 points per game so far

The Magpies have Bowen Roper, Kit Laulilii, Luke Keppie, Nathaniel Gallagher & Rielly Smith returing

OurFootyteam’s Prediction : The Magpies will have too many options and run the eels around Kirkham Park and ultimately win by 12 + points

CC Roosters v St. George Dragons

Fourth placed St. George Dragons will battle it out with the home side, 5th placed CC Roosters in possibly the match of the round up at the Morrie Breen Oval.

In round 1 the CC Rooster went down to the Panthers in a close with Nathan Cleary’s younger brother Jett’s conversion being the only difference between the 2 sides

In round 2 the CC Rooster flogged the Illwarrra Steelers with solid defence keeping the Steelers scoreless and as we discussed previously, the Sydney Roosters were much too good for the Canberra Raiders

The Dragons have no changes to their round 2 side while the Central Coast boiz have Dylan Coyte and Kyan Parker returning

OurFootyteam’s Prediction : St. George will fire up again and win in a cracker.

Canterbury Bulldogs v Balmain Tigers

Canterbury-Bankstown and Balmain both have a win on the board and will look to making it 2 from 3 this week.

This game is at the Belmore Sports Ground, the Tigers beat a good Bears outfit by a converted try last week and the Doggies went down to Parra

OurFootyteam’s Prediction : Bulldogs will be too strong

Manly Seaeagles v Illwarra Steelers

Manly play Illawarra out at the Aubrey Keech Reserve this week

The Seaeagles are comming off the Bye and the Steelers didn’t trouble the scoreboard last week, so both teams wil be keen to get it on.

Defending Premiers didn’t kick off their 2022 campaign well going down the the Raiders 32 – 6 and the Steelers got pumped by the Sharks in Round 1

Both teams will also be looking to improve for their 1st win of the season and get away from the bottom of the Harold Matthew Cup ladder

OurFootyteam’s Prediction : Steelers by less that 10 points
