Josh Feledy scores six in Sea Eagles’ 40-0 win in Matthews Cup

An incredible six try haul to exciting young centre Josh Feledy saw the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles record a memorable 40-0 victory in Cessnock today.
In a day to remember for the talented Feledy, the Manly captain scored three tries in each half for a personal 24 points haul against the Newcastle Knights in a performance that made him the toast of Cessnock Sports Ground.
Hooker Ollie Cummins kicked five from six goals for 10 points. The Aam McEwan coached Sea Eagles remain undefeated in five matches after six rounds.
The Sea Eagles opened their account when Feledy crossed for his first try in the fourth minute. Hooker Ollie Cummins converted for a 6-0 lead.
Manly full-back Lehi Hopoate then grounded the ball in-goal from a short grubber kick in the 16th minute.
The Sea Eagles elected to keep the pressure on the Knights instead of taking a gift two points in front of the posts after half-back Alfred Ah Chong was taken out late.
The decision paid off when Feledy crossed for his second try in the 21st minute when he finished off a nice backline play to diver over in the corner. Cummins converted from the sideline for a 12-0 lead.
The Sea Eagles extended their lead to 18-0 after 25 minutes after Cummins converted a try to Ropeti Lole after the prop crashed over under the posts.
Feledy scored his third try four minutes later when he hit a gap out wide from a scrum win for a 22-0 lead. Cummins converted to give Manly a 24-0 lead at half-time.
The Sea Eagles went to a 28-0 lead when Feledy barged over out wide for his fourth try a minute after half-time. Cummins failed to convert.
Feledy crossed for his fifth try when he pounced on a well weighted short kick from five-eighth Latu Fainu to score out wide. Cummins converted for a 34-0 lead after 38 minutes.
To show he is ‘human’, Feledy bombed a chance to score his sixth try in the 50th minute when the Sea Eagles got the ball back from a crossfield kick to keep it alive only for an unmarked Feledy to drop the ball near the line.
Feledy recorded his sixth try in the 54th minute when he put a kick through to slide through the defence to score out wide. Fainu converted the try out wide for the 40-0 scoreline.
