“We could gel together and build a connection between the boys.’’

Coombabah SHS captain Tim Sielaff-Burns said it was also an enormous honour for his community, with Coombabah SHS rejoining the Langer Cup for the first time since 2017.

“It is an awesome opportunity for the community to see we are back in the top competition and putting our name back on the map as one of the top rugby league schools on the Gold Coast and in south east Queensland,’’ Sielaff-Burns said.

“You are playing against future NRL players and it forces you to come up to their level and to train really hard.

“There is no better place to build your game than in the Langer Cup because you are playing against the best.’’
