Juniors take out Tonie Carroll Cup

Putting in the hard yards over the weekend, the fresh group of grade 7 boys took out the 2016 Tonie Carroll Cup held at Bill Norris Oval in Beenleigh this past Saturday.

The one day, 7’s only tournament featured 10 schools from around Queensland.

The Keebra Park Rugby League Grade 7 side had pool game wins against Marsden State High School, Stretton College, Beenleigh State High School and Coombabah State High School to see them draw a semi-final game against Beenleigh.

The team won their semi-final game convincingly with a score of 28-0 and were set to match up with Marsden in the grand final.

Despite beating Marsden in pool play, the score was level at 4-4 with 8 minutes remaining, before the Keebra boys lifted their intensity, scoring 3 late tries for a final score of 16-4.

Darias Christie from Keebra Park was named player of the tournament after his unstoppable performances, which saw him score 10 tries throughout the carnival, four of which were length of the field.

All of the boys made great contributions to the tournament win and were very respectful to their opponents and officials.

The games were played in great spirit and all team members were well behaved throughout the day, becoming proud representatives of the school.

Langer Reserve Season Report

The Grand Final of the Langer Reserve competition on Wednesday at Kougari Oval saw the Keebra Park Open B’s topple Wavell SHS 22 to 6.

After finishing the regular season undefeated, Keebra kicked off and saw Wavell go 90 metres off the first set and go on to dominate possession early. Wavell led 6-10 after only 10 minutes of play… MORE
