| "KEEBRA FLICK THE SWITCH"
From not knowing a lineout from a 22metre line or a wether the fullback should be we...aring Number 1 or number 15, Keebra Park have emerged from the hallowed halls of the Queensland Rugby Union with a new title.....QRU Schoolboys sevens Champions.
After winning the right to contest the finals by topping their group in the round robin stage of the competition including a win over reknowned union heavyweights St Josephs College Nudgee, the boys headed to Suncorp on Friday night to face Brisbane State High in the semi final.
Winning this game comfortably set them up for a showdown with competition favourites IGS (Ipswich Grammar to you and me).
second half of story...................
Ipswich were lightning fast and would pose a threat out wide but Keebra kept it tight and counted on their union counterparts not being up to making one on one tackles.
This proved to be the case and Grammar had to commit to the ruck or otherwise the bustling Keebra forwards would simply dominate through the middle. By sucking them in it was us who created the overlaps and at half time had a comfortable 19-12 lead.
The second half was a differnt story with Grammar spreading the ball and with weight of position lead 38-28 with two minutes to go.......................however..........there was one thing that we knew we were superior in and that was pride in the Keebra Park jersey...........this jersey is not won on privelige or who you know.......this jersey is built on hard work and discipline, on commitment to your team mates and commitment to the school and with the seconds ticking down the boys steeled themselves and when possession came they capitalised on it and ran out winners 38-28.
The boys now head of to the Nationals in Sydney adn with the return of their SG Ball and Mal Meninga Cup reps will be side to be reckoned with.
Mr Harts player of the day was Kurtis Rowe followed closely by Moseses and water runner of the day was of course Mr Hart. |
KEEBRA PARK THE SEASON SO FAR.
Story By : Darren Hart Keebra Park
Well its back to football for the students enrolled in the football specialisation program at Keebra Park SHS and there have already been some good signs.
Well done to Zac Walsh who was selected in the Queensland Murri to take on the NSW Kooris as a curtain raiser to the Allstars game at Skilled Park last weekend.
Unfortunately the game didnt go their way but im sure Zac gained some useful experience.
In other news the school put a sevens side into the Queensland Reds sevens competition and finished top of their group beating some of the best Union sides in the area including St Josephs College Nudgee.
They now face a semi final against the fancied Brisbane State High and a rematch with Nudgee if they win that game. These games are to be played as curtain raisers to the Reds versus Canterbury game and Suncorp on Friday night.
They may well be short with a number of the team flying down to Sydney for SG Ball duty but whatever the result it has been a great effort from boys with no union background.
Early trials against PBC showed that the Under 14s will be a side to be reckoned with this year and there are upcoming trials in all grades.
Well done to graduates Corey Norman who is progressing well at the Broncos and there is good news from the Tigers with the boys going well down there.
The under 16 side also looks like they will give the Titans Competition a shake with nine (9) of this side already aelected and playing for the Titans Cyril Connell Cup team.
So far so good and ill update the Union results as they happen. |

After a succesful season in 2010, Keebra Park realise that they will have a target on their backs as the team to beat in 2010.
Training has recommenced at the school and Friday morning training has become the place for the new recruits to show the coach their talents and a place to start the long journey that will be season 2010.
There have been some good gains in all age groups and that combined with the existing talent is sure to make competition for spots quite tight.
A number of last years Arrive Alive Cup side were in grade 11 and this means that once again they should feature in selections and they also have the advantage of knowing what victory in this elite competition takes.
This year there have been students enrol from a myriad of locations including Murgon, Tonga, Western Australia, Torres Straight and even the Uk which is a pleasing sign that the reputation of the school is definetly becoming global...................
With some great competition in the local area expected this year, Keebra are under no illusions that its is discipline and hard work that are the keys to success and an equally pleasing season 2010. |
DIVERSITY IN THE CLASSROOM REFLECTED IN DIVERSITY IN THE SPORTING ARENA.
Story By : dhart - KEEBRA PARK RUGBY LEAGUE
Keebra Park State High School has always been a place of diversity and difference with as many as 64 nationalities making up its student cohort.
The name itself is an aboriginal word meaning “Place of Happy People” and it certainly embraces this ideal.
There is the extremely successful ESL program (English As a Second Language) attracting students from as far away as Honduras and Iceland, its rugby league program attracting students from Samoa, Tonga and the Cook Islands and its International Student program with students from as far afield as Brazil and Germany and of course our local Australian and indigenous populations.
There is no doubt this diversity, assists with teaching and understanding in the classroom with students able to access cultural knowledge from their peers that is not so readily available in the homogenous environments in some schools.
There also seems to be some advantages in the sporting realm with students from these very different backgrounds able to come together and contribute to produce fantastic results.
“We all mix in really well and I think its all of us coming together that makes us a formidable opposition.” Said year 11 student Henare Wells.
“Ive met students from everywhere this year and they teach me as much as I teach them” He added.
This was evident this year at Keebra Park where Samoans and Tongans mixed in with Australians, Germans and Brazillians to take out three much sought after trophies.
First of all there was the Arrive Cup win, followed by the Queensland All Schools Touch Competition and most recently the Gold Coast 9 aside AFL championship.
Schools often fend off a fair bit of negative press in the mass media and stories such as this are a way for the students to let what they do in the classroom and the sporting field talk for them and their peers.
“We study the media industry as part of our sports specialisation program and realise that schools are an easy target for journalists and its disappointing but part of society today.”
Said Wells. “We’ll just keep on doing what we do best and make our parents and teachers and those who know us as proud as we can.” He Concluded. Well said Henare and well done boys.. LEARN MORE ABOUT KEEBRA PARK SHS |
KEEBRA FLY HIGH TO TAKE OUT GOLD COAST AFL TITLE
Story By : DARREN HART HPE - Keebra Park RL
While many readers may be familiar with Keebra Park State High School’s achievements in Rugby League, they may not know that many of this years Opens league team also featured heavily in the schools AFL side that won last months Gold Coast Secondary Schools AFL Championship.
Despite only one member of the squad ever having played AFL before, coach Ben Woolf thought it would be the perfect vehicle to engage the footy boys once the League season had finished.
“We invited the AFL out to the school to run some clinics with the grade 9 boys and from that came a suggestion that we enter some teams in this years 9 aside competition.
We decided it would be a great way to encourage the boys to keep motivated, while developing kicking and catching skills along with hand, eye co-ordination that is a vital component of all ball sports.” He said.
“In all 50 boys showed interest and trialled for the teams so we ended up submitting two Open age group teams.” He added.
The tournament was held at Carrara and involved schools from across the Gold Coast and Hinterland.
The two Keebra sides managed to make the semi-finals where they ended up playing each other with the A side progressing through to the grand final where they beat Helensvale SHS 64-10.
“We were confident that we were good athletes and knew that while we would be a bit rusty with regards to rules and AFL specific skills, we could compete if we kept our errors to a minimum.
The boys picked up the game really well and I’m sure their ability to perform at this level, surprised a few people.” He said.
“Some of the boys such as Henare Wells, Jordan Kahu, Anthony Utanga and Connor Toia were also part of the Arrive Alive Cup and Touch Qld, winning sides and to be able to cross code at this level in three different sports is quite amazing.”
Outstanding players throughout the competition were, Agnatius Paasi, Josh Robertson, Paddy Hohepa, Connor Toia, Ayden Harawira and Nofoa Leapai.
The Under 15 boys side also did well losing in a tight final against Benowa SHS.
“The AFL is something we will definitely continue to do with our league sides next year as it keeps them motivated and develops those extra skills that will set them apart as league players.” Concluded Coach Woolf. |

ARRIVE ALIVE CHAMPIONS 2009
Story By : KEEBRA PARK RUGBY LEAGUE - dHart
Well what a season 2009 has been for Keebra Park!
The successes of the junior teams was phenomenal in itself but the icing on the cake was the 18-12 victory over Sydney powerhouse Matraville Sports High school in the final of the Arrive Alive Cup.
While this game was the final and the game that clinched the title, it was just the last in a series of hard fought wins that started way back with the win over local rivals Palm Beach Currumbin.
For the past few years it has come down to these two Gold Coast League schools to see who will go on and represent South East Queensland in the QLD final of the Arrive Alive.
Both of these schools are strong with long, proud traditions in the sport and it is a shame that one of them has (by the nature of the competition) to bow out of the competition at this fairly early stage. Often the opposition in Sydney further down the track seem to be less formidable than the clash that is Keebra vs PBC.
Anyhow I digress and while we have been on the losing side of this fixture in the past few years, the boys put together a solid display of physical football and it was Keebra who progressed to play Kirwan SHS in Townsville.
Like PBC, Kirwan were a line up stacked with Queensland and Australian Reps and like PBC they felt the wrath of the dominant Keebra forwards who despite not featuring in any rep teams, knew they were the fittest, toughest, most dedicated side in the competition.
While many a coach maintains that if you compete long enough with big forwards they will eventually tire and the balance will swing in favour of the defendersâ?¦we disagree! if your forwards are fit enough and focussed they will go all day and this dedication and tradition is what we at Keebra pride ourselves on.
Ask any opposition player who felt the sting of Ben, Agnatius, Ice, Moseses, Reagan, Sam, Peter or Brandon and they will tell you that the impact they felt in the first tackle was still there at the end.
Kirwan were young and keen but fell short of the mark and it was next off to face the good ship Endeavour who had been sailing around Sydney with her masts full and flags flying for the past 3 or 4 years.
Captain Kahu and his crew of first mate Hemi, Henare, Jade, Matt, Bradley, Sione, and last but not least a character called Grasshopper who they had found in a field at the back of Nerang in grade 8, sailed valiantly off into the fray with cannons at the ready and an ample supply of nuts and bananas.
Shots were fired and the Endeavour span around and around before her hull lifted clear of the water and she sunk into the depths of Olympic Park leaving a cloud of smoke and hot air where once she had sailed.. the witnesses couldn't believe it's..never in the annals of history had a ship with such reputation been scuttled by a frigate of no-name sailors such as SHS Keebra.
Matraville were next and came out talking tough..We only want a safe passage through these rough waters called out Captain Kahu and if you let us pass we will go on our way.
Matraville had hardly lit the fuses on her cannons when like lightning Henare Wells had crossed her Bow's.. followed by Sione and Big Ben Murdoch.
Matraville turned tail and tried to escape but it was not to be and met the same watery fate as Endeavour.
Once again the assembled onlookers were in shock and awe as Captain Kahu took the Silver ware and headed for home.
Once in the quiet waters of the Broadwater the boys sat back and remembered what a great time was had by all this year and looked forward to sailing away in the New Year on another expedition into the unknown..
Special thanks to the other crew members who made this possible especially Anthony Utanga and Richie Powell. |

KEEBRA PARK STILL aLIVE
Story & Photo's By :
Keebra Park are through to this years Arrive alive Cup grand final against mighty Matraville Sports High School.
Keebra shocked the crowd at ANZ stadium, closing down the game and successfully closing down the skilled Endeavour backs.
This is the 3 rd time these two highly rated schools have fought the Arrive alive duel, the previous 2 occasions were the 2005 & 2006 grand finals where Endeavour were the winners on both occasions.
Not this time, Keebra Park were the first to score in this semi final after they had half a dozen or more repeated sets inside Endeavour's 20 meter line.
Endeavour were marvelous in defence, dropping the attacking Queenslanders within millimeters of the try line.
The weight of possession eventually told and Keebra Park were able to break the Endeavour line when Sione Akoula scored, the conversion was straight thru the goal posts and the score was 6 - 0.
Endeavour finally held the ball for a full set, the footy was like a hot potato with the Sydney boys passing the ball along the line to Rass with flicked the ball to Tom Wishardt who was 10 cm from the line put the ball down and was smashed for his efforts, the kick from near the sideline hit the near post.
Endeavour were in again when Endeavour covered the length of the field in one set to see the Somoan flier DJ Percell had momentum to slide into the in goal to give his school the lead. Skipper John Nicholas converted to make the score 10 - 6.
It didn't take long in this mistake riddled game for Keebra to once again grab the lead when big Ben Murdock bashed his way through a few tired defenders to run the rest of the 40 meters to out the ball down under the black dot.
Keebra Park were very well organised in defence, they slide across, pick a defender and every man is involved, skipper and fullback Jordan Kahu is calm and clear in his instructions to the troops.
HALF TIME SCORE 10 - 12
SECOND HALF SOON & heaps of action photo's too |

KEEBRA TSUNAMI CAUSES MASSIVE BEACH EROSION
Story By : KEEBRA PARK RL dHart
Well what a week its been at Keebra!!!!
First we had a victory in the Titans Cup with our Under 16 side beating PBC 20-14. This was a first for the Titans Cup boys so well done Mr Woolf.
They were to quick in the opening encounters and built a 16-0 half time score that PBC never really managed to reel in.
Special mention to Andrew Vella, Johnny Pati and Nofoa Leapi for outstanding seasons. Here's looking to next year and more success.
Then our 13 Premiers demolished St Mary's Toowoomba 72-0 with some great strong running and patient, structured play.
George Fai and Sigalu set a strong platform which was ably exploited by the speedy backs. Jayden Heu played a blinder on the wing and looks to have cemented a spot out wide.
The 14's progressed with a scrappy win over Kawana Waters from the Sunshine Coast.
The 15's came up against Ipswich Grammar and put on an awesome display of structured football. Halves, Zac Walsh and Dallas Wells showed some maturity in their ball playing that put player after player away into holes that saw the score exceed 50.
They are really coming together as a unit and have some exceptional talent. Well Done Quaid for making the Australian merit side and to Costner, Filo, Zac, Dallas and Tuila who all made various Qld rep sides.
The Opens came up against a talent stacked PBC at Pizzey Park this Wednesday and while many thought that they were just there to make up the numbers, the boys themselves had been quietly confident all week that they had the goods to come away with a win.
Boasting Jordan Rankin;s NRL experience and with 7 Titans Toyota Cup Players, 2 Australian Reps and 5 Qld players they were on paper an daunting proposition.
The boys knew they would have to be smart and play to their strengths and negate PBC'S strengths and in the end it was this battle that decided the game.
Our strengths were our go forward and their perceived strengths were the edges and the bomb.
Rankin put up spiralling torpedoes that came down with snow on, only to have Keebra fullback Jordan Kahu, leap above the opposition, wipe the snow laden pill clean with one hand and mould it into snowballs, while fending with the other and then make twenty metres through traffic, finding body position, getting a quick play the ball and puttting PBC on the backfoot while throwing snowballs at Mr Rankin.
Our go forward was constant and almost like watching a piston engine punching rhythmically through the opposition. Ignatius, Mosese, Ice, Ignatius, Mosese, Ice,Ignatius, Mosese, Ice, Ignatius, Mosese, Ice,Ignatius, Mosese, Ice,Ignatius, Mosese, Ice,.......you get the picture.
This disciplined commitment dragged the PBC edges into the fray and Keebra exploited the gaps.
At half time the score was 6-0 and while it wasn't the start Keebra had hoped for it seemed to take more out of the PBC boys than it did Keebra and this was evident with the boys being able to put on two tries.
One to Mosese and another to bustling Ben Murdoch.
Kahu then kicked a smart, demoralising field goal and it left too little time and too much to do for PBC.
It is always a shame that someone has to bow out with both these schools being worthy South Qld representatives but having been on the losing end of two close games in the past two years it was great to get back on the winners dias and to show that we are a school that has a long, proud tradition of rugby league and are as competitive as we have ever been.
With the juniors going so well it has been a great week of reassurance for all on staff at Keebra that what we are doing is working and that we are still innovating and at the cutting edge.
Well done boys and good luck as you move onto the next stages of the various competitions.

THRILLING FINALS IN THE TITANS CUP AND CHALLENGE.
STORY by : KEEBRA PARK SHS dhart
Monday night saw the conclusion of this years Titans, Cup and Challenge competitions in front of a packed house at Glennon Park Nerang.
Since its inception in 2006, this knockout tournament has grown to be the premier schoolboy rugby league fixture in the local area and looks set to be even bigger in 2010.
Teams from across the Gold Coast and South Brisbane, battled out the rounds in term two and in both the Cup and the Challenge, the semi-finalists were decided on points for and against, a testimony to the closeness of the encounters.
TITANS CHALLENGE
ST MICHAELS COLLEGE 24 defeated ROBINA SHS 18
The CHALLENGE COMPETITION saw St Michaels College take on old rivals and defending champions Robina SHS in a re-match of the 2008 Grand Final.
In 2008 Robina slotted a last minute field goal to snatch the trophy from under the noses of a disappointed St Michaels team but tonight saw a reversal of fortune.
“It was a heartbreaking way to lose last year so tonight’s win makes the victory very pleasing.” Said St Michaels Coach, Alan Wyper.
“We know they are a strong side but as we hadn’t played them in the rounds we didn’t really know what to expect.”
Leading 8-0 at half time, St Michaels looked strong but a trio of unanswered Robina tries just after half time, put them on the back foot at 12-8 down.
“We were under the pump for a while there but our hunger and determination really got us back in the game and set the platform for our victory.
We managed to post a couple of six pointers and we defended well enough to keep them out.”
With a final score of 24-18 to St Michaels, their rivalry with Robina looks set to continue in 2010 and that is great news for both the competition and the fans.
TITANS CUP
KEEBRA PARK SHS 20 defeated PALM BEACH CURRUMBIN SHS 14
This years TITANS CUP Grand Final saw defending Champions PBC up against the Keebra Park Under 16’s side.
These teams have faced off in the final for the past three years with PBC being victorious on all three occasions.
With both schools having long, proud traditions in Rugby League it was always going to be a hard fought game and once again this fixture did not disappoint.
The first half was all Keebra Park with them scoring three unanswered tries and going into the sheds with a 16-0 platform that was to prove invaluable as the second half commenced.
“We know PBC were going to be a strong side who would play the full 60 minutes so we were happy that we had given ourselves a great start and had dominated the opening encounters with some great work by our forwards.” Said Keebra coach, Ben Woolf.
As the second half progressed it was PBC who took the game on and through some determined attack, managed to get themselves back into the game at 16-14.
This tense stalemate lasted for almost the entire last ten minutes, before Keebra Park scored another 4 pointer that snuffed out any further chance of a PBC comeback and gave Keebra a well deserved victory.
“We are not a huge side, but we do pride ourselves on playing well disciplined, structured football and that is really what got us our win today.” Said coach Woolf.
“We have kept the sixteens together as a unit and it has a been a successful endeavour that will only see them continue to grow as a team next year .” He added.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH was JOSEPH TAGO of Keebra Park SHS. |

With season 2009 well and truly in sight, trials are set to begin at Keebra Park.
The new cohort of grade 8's are well and truly into training and looking like a team that could emulate the unbeaten antics of last years 8's.
The Nines are looking good. With only a couple of losses from last years team that won the Renouf Shield 74-0, however they have gained a number of juniors from as far afield as Tamworth and North Queensland.
The Under 15's have also profitted from the reputation the school has aquired across both Australia and New Zealand with a number of new recruits filling the ranks.
There are 80 students in the Open Divison with a number of students on contracts with the Wests Tigers and the Gold Coast Titans. The Wests Tigers players are looking particularly strong with gains throughout the forwards anda couple of useful looking halves.
Another positive addition to the school this year is the appointment of a Polynesian guidance officer who is on hand to work with the students for whom the schooling system is often different to the one they are used to andd often speak a language other than English at home.
These innovations, coupled with the rigorous training schedule are sureto make 2009 a Blockbuster yeab at "The Park' , so good luck boys and lets bring it on |

KEEBRA CLEAN SWEEP INTO FINALS
Story By : Darren Hart Keebra Park
Its been a most successful week for Keebra Park with all teams in all ages blasting their way into the premier finals.
The thirteens will face Wavell after beating a strong Cav Road side 40 - 0.
Jayden Warbrick and Perry laid a strong foundation up front that was exploited by their speedy backline.
The boys will face Wavell at Pizzey Park.TBA
The fourteens were 20 - 6 down at halftime but managed top claw back to topple Wavell 22 - 20 with minutes to go.
This will have been a good learning experience that they need to hit the game running and show more urgency and commitment rather that play "Catch up Football", in the finals.
Some good running and leadership from Costner Lemafa was the driving force behind this victory.
They will now face PBC at Pizzey Park. TBA
The fifteens faced Mountain Creek and lost two key players in James Dunley and Andrew Vella to see themselves 10-6 down at the break.
Some good maturity from Geordie Penrose, Matt Beddow and Taylor Feeney saw the emerge 26-20 winners afetr a blitz in the middle of the second half.
They did slacken off toward sthe end of the game and let Mountain Creek in for a couple of soft tries and will need to work on that aspect of the game as they face PBC at Pizzey Park in the final. TBA
Likewise the Opens will play PBC In the South East Final of the Arrive Alive Cup at Pizzey Park next wednesday after baeting Wavell 32-6 at Suncorp last Friday.
Keebra will go into this game as confident but with the local underdog tag due to PBCS flurry of Australian players and NRL debutante Jordan Rankin.
This game is on Wednesday 27th at Pizzey Park. |

KEEPING IT ON THE RAILS
Story By : D. Hart (Keebra Park SHS)
With the celebrity status that today's sportsmen and women enjoy, they have become the focus of increased media attention.
Both on and off the field they are constantly under scrutiny and it is important that they are equipped to deal with this sometimes sudden status.
A man who has achieved at the highest levels in Rugby League for club, State and Country and who always presents himself impeccably is Origin legend Steve Renouf.
In July this year and in conjunction with Queensland Rail, Keebra Park was lucky enough to host Steve as he spoke to out footballers about the demands and expectations that go along with belonging to an elite programme.
Steve told the boys that when he first joined the Brisbane Broncos, Wayne Bennett had told him that from now on he was representing the team whenever he was in public and not only when he was playing, and this was something he had worked on maintaining.
He spoke of how being identifiable as a member of any team, whether it be The Broncos or Keebra Park, meant that the public form opinions about you and it was easy for those opinions to be negative. He also spoke of how bad behaviour in public is not a cultural thing it is a personal choice and that we as people are responsible for those choices.
Steve was well received and fielded questions from the boys on how to make sure that they presented a positive image of themselves and their school and also a few questions regarding his long career.
After the session Steve took the squad down to the oval and imparted a few of the secrets that earned him his 'Black Pearl' nickname.
The school would like to thank Steve for spending the time on what has become a very hot topic in a time of intense media scrutiny. |
SEASON SO FAR
Story By : Darren Hart Keebra Park SHS
Well with the first few rounds of both the local schools and the Broncos challenge out of the way its time for a bit of a look at how things are going and a general update of all things "FOOTY".
In the local schools competition the 13 A's are travelling along well and are unbeaten thus far, as are the 14B's who have had some high scoring victories over some spirited opponents. The 15's are not unbeaten but still top their comp and should feature in the crossover finals.
In the Monday night Titans competition the Open A side had a good win over Coombabah and look like the side to beat. Mr Stephens has been happy with their structure and the way the have stuck to their basic yet effective game plan.
The Titans B side did not fair so well against a strong Marymount side who showed discipline and got away with a lop sided 30-6 win.
Coach Mr Hart was far from impressed with this result as although the boys did not deserve to win, they could have stemmed the tide. Hopefully next week will see a turn around in attitude.
"We cant complete one set out of eight and have zero props taking the ball up and expect to stand even half a chance " he said.
"We will need to stick to our basic game plan and play basic football if we are to build a platform for the later stages of the competition" he added.
In the Struddys competition which is the Open B comp.
Mr Richard's side have shown good composure and discipline to remain unbeaten against some much bigger and more fancied opposition.
These results really do prove that a well coached side who sticks to a basic game plan and does the little things right consistently will prevail over less structured more fancied sides.
The Opens are also unbeaten having gained wins over Mountain Creek, Marsden and Wavell with the big test coming up against Palm Beach in a few weeks.
Vaha Pulu and Ben Murdoch are showing good form early on and hooker Dean Parata seems to have slotted in to the side well.
Onto the NRL and its good to see a total of 5 graduates now in the NRL. Benji and Ben Teo at Wests,Greg Eastwood at the Broncos, Rangi Chase at St George and now Sam Moa who got a run at Cronulla at the weekend.
Sam was a great ambassador for Keebra and its good to see him make his debut.
He came off the bench and made a number of crunching tackles and a gained a good few yards in hit ups. WELL DONE SAM.
Another player to watch out for is Manly's Kenny Edwards who had a good run in the Toyota Cup at the weekend and looks all set to continue on his way to the top grade. |
GRADUATES RETURN HOME FOR TRIAL SHOWDOWN.
Story By : Darren Hart H.P.E Keebra Park SHS
With Keebra Park set to field 5 Open sides, and three in each of the junior year levels it has been a busy start to the season with the next event on the calendar being a trip up to Mountain Creek to face off against the Sunshine Coast powerhouse.
Coached by Rob Brough from Family Feud fame, the Creekers are always a strong outfit and will be a good indicator of how our own preparation is going. "We asked 100 people if it would be a good day and they all said yes"
This will also be a good run out for our junior players and any support would be greatly appreciated.
However it is not just on the school ovals that Keebra have been hitting the headlines, with 7 ex graduates featuring in last weekend's NRL and Toyota Cup trials against the Titans.
Matt Parata scored a well worked try in the Premier League game against Tweed Seagulls and looks set to work his way back into the Twenties side.
Damon Harth and Soeli Makaui seemed quite at home steering the Wests Tigers Toyota Cup side around the park and to victory and were met in opposition by two more ex-Keebra boys in Kingi Akoala and Bodene Thompson who have Titans Contracts.
In the NRL Game, Benji Marshall and Ben Teo flew the school flag and whilst they did not come away with a victory it was a good hit out for the boys and they did us proud.
As we move into the season i would like to ask any budding young Rugby League writers who are interested to submit their match reports to me on a USB and i will have them immortalised on the web site. So lets support the team and support this web site and make it a great site to visit. |
